Tell us about your experience… My wife and I have bought and sold quite a number of properties over the years including a complete new build where we bought a plot of land and later sold the house we developed on it and, on another occasion, acquired three semi- derelict barns which we progressively sold, after their re-development.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Always leave something in it for the other party. We have two ears and one mouth and I was always taught to use them in that proportion!
What would be your dream home? I enjoy privacy and making the most of good, natural light. Proximity to relevant facilities is important and, possibly, access to public transport.
Senior Property Valuer
What is your experience? I started in estate agency straight out of college at 18. I now have over 25 years of experience working solely in the sector and dealing with all property types and various marketplaces.
The best part of your job? Bit of a stock answer, but nothing beats selling a property, and I love it when that means that our seller gets to secure the home of their dreams. It’s not like selling any other product; it’s full of emotion and hopes for the future.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Make the most of what you have; that doesn’t mean spending a fortune but touching up that bit of paint and clearing out the clutter makes all the difference. Remember, best foot forward you wouldn’t go on a date without brushing your hair!
What would be your dream home? Somewhere out in the countryside with views for miles!
Legal Administration Manager
becky.scargill@johngerman.co.uk
Time at John German? I joined John German Estate Agents in 2011 and have worked for both the Lettings and Sales departments.
The best part of your job? It’s a fast-paced job which provides me with a great feeling of accomplishment when I find the perfect tenant for a landlord. Another aspect of the job I enjoy is building great relationships with our landlords and tenants. It feels good when they come back to us time and time again to re-let their properties or when they are looking for a new home.
What would be your dream home? My dream home would be a period property with plenty of old features and open fires, with somewhere to put a very big Christmas tree.
Senior Sales Negotiator
What is your experience? I started my career in the estate agent industry as an apprentice lettings negotiator when I was 19.
The best part of your job? My favourite part about my job is meeting new people each day and finding them the property of their dreams.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Whether you are selling or buying, the best advice is to keep an open mind and listen to your estate agent.
Dream Home: My dream home would be a Georgian country home with a large garden that had a pond. Somewhere for me to relax without interruption.
Accompanied Viewing Representative
What is your experience? I have an extensive amount of experience when it comes to customer service and ensuring the clients needs are met every step of the way. This is why, as the customer facing role and first point of contact for John German, it’s imperative I build rapport and connection with everyone I see, just to be sure we’re meeting their expectations when it comes to their buying requirements.
The best part of your job? I simply adore being out and about meeting new people every single day and hearing their stories, the reasons behind why they’re selling or buying.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Emphasise the importance of location. Take into account local amenities such as schools, parks, shopping and transportation options. This will affect the value of the property over time. Also, is the area likely to undergo any gentrification in the future? This will impact value going forward as well.
Dream Home: My dream home would be by the sea with stunning views and not much else nearby!
Valuation & Sales Administrator
What is your experience? I have over 3 years of experience in business administration working with commercial and residential property. I’ve been a PA to multiple RICS accredited surveyors and have my business administration Level 3 qualification. Additionally, I have some social media marketing experience.
The best part of your job? One of the best parts of my job is professional valuation work, creating the reports for our RICS accredited surveyors which is always so interesting.
Top tip for buyer or seller? My top tip for sellers is to make sure your house is perfectly presented, declutter, give you walls some fresh paint and make any minor repairs you can.
Dream Home: My dream home would be a beautiful barn conversion with views of the countryside and an open wood fire.
