Time at John German? Joined John German in 1998 at the Burton office and have worked in estate agency since leaving school.
Best part of your job? We sell properties but this business is all about people, working with our clients to achieve a sale and seeing them move home gives me tremendous satisfaction, more so, if difficulties have to be overcome along the way.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Seller: Do your research on estate agents before instructing one, it’s not all about a low fee! Buyer: Yes buy with your head but let your heart have a say too!
What would be your dream home? A contemporary glass and steel home overlooking an estuary.
Lettings Director
Time at John German? Since 1995 but with 3 years off for good behaviour!
Favourite part of your job? Going out to meet landlords and gaining their confidence to instruct us…. And then finding them the perfect tenant!
Top tip for a landlord? Only buy a property to let in an area you would live!
What would be your dream home? A grand design home with full height windows overlooking countryside.
Sales Director
Time at John German? I started at John German around 1998.
Best part of your job? Knowing our clients trust us and are confident in the knowledge we will sell their home for them. To make it as stress free as possible, we have a brilliant support team in the sales progression department. Lichfield is a small town and we regularly bump into happy customers which makes the job very rewarding.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Before going on the market, walk through your home and imagine how a buyer would see things for the very first time. Can you see anything which needs updating or fixing? Are there any rooms which look too cluttered or busy? If so, it’s worth taking a bit of time to get things looking fresh, spacious and homely.
Senior Property Valuer
What is your experience? I started in estate agency straight out of college at 18. I now have over 25 years of experience working solely in the sector and dealing with all property types and various marketplaces.
The best part of your job? Bit of a stock answer, but nothing beats selling a property, and I love it when that means that our seller gets to secure the home of their dreams. It’s not like selling any other product; it’s full of emotion and hopes for the future.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Make the most of what you have; that doesn’t mean spending a fortune but touching up that bit of paint and clearing out the clutter makes all the difference. Remember, best foot forward you wouldn’t go on a date without brushing your hair!
What would be your dream home? Somewhere out in the countryside with views for miles!
Property Valuer
What is your experience? I started in estate agency in 2014 after graduating from University and have never looked back.
The best part of your job? Putting a deal together that our clients are happy with and when a plan comes together.
Top tip for buyer or seller? My top tip for a seller would be to de-personalise, clean and tidy your house as much as possible ready for marketing and viewings.
I always say that if you were going to sell your car, you would wash it, wax it, polish it, the same applies (if not more) to your house!
Dream Home: Stone cottage in the country with a log burner, large garden and vegetable plot.
Sales Manager
Sales Negotiator
What is your experience? I’ve been working at John German since February 2024, I’m new to this sector but so far I’m absolutely loving it!
The best part of your job? Meeting new people and helping them find their dream home.
Top tip for buyer or seller? To help enjoy your buying experience speak to a mortgage advisor for an AIP so you know exactly what price range you can afford.
Dream Home: Little cottage in the countryside with land for chickens and cattle. Bonus points if it has an AGA.
Accompanied Viewing Representative
What is your experience? I have an extensive amount of experience when it comes to customer service and ensuring the clients needs are met every step of the way. This is why, as the customer facing role and first point of contact for John German, it’s imperative I build rapport and connection with everyone I see, just to be sure we’re meeting their expectations when it comes to their buying requirements.
The best part of your job? I simply adore being out and about meeting new people every single day and hearing their stories, the reasons behind why they’re selling or buying.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Emphasise the importance of location. Take into account local amenities such as schools, parks, shopping and transportation options. This will affect the value of the property over time. Also, is the area likely to undergo any gentrification in the future? This will impact value going forward as well.
Dream Home: My dream home would be by the sea with stunning views and not much else nearby!
Lettings Assistant
What’s your experience? I have completed work experience twice with John German. I have recently joined the company as an apprentice as I really enjoyed my time with the lettings and management team.
Favourite part of your job? My favourite part of the job is going out and seeing beautiful houses and letting them to excited, happy tenants.
Top tip for tenant or landlord? Choose a good agent. The team I am working with are all qualified and highly experienced – I am looking forward learning from them.
What would be your dream home? My dream home would be an open plan detached house with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the countryside.
Tenancy Manager
What is your experience? I have 8 years’ experience in residential lettings and property management.
The best part of your job? The best part of my job is meeting new people and helping them to find their ideal home. I really enjoy looking around all types of properties and finding the right tenants for landlords.
Top tip for tenant or landlord? My top tip for landlords would be to present a property well to get the best from your investment. A top tip for tenants would be to understand your contract and responsibilities.
Dream Home: My dream home would be a cottage with countryside views and mature gardens.
Independent Mortgage Advisor
What is your experience? I have been a mortgage advisor since 2021, with previous experience in banking
The best part of your job? I love helping my customers to move, but the best part is definitely supporting first time buyers! It is always an emotional transaction and the hard work pays off the day they finally move to their first home. Nothing can beat the moment you collect your first set of keys.
Top tip for buyer or seller? Trust the process. Buying and selling house can be emotional, but us, the professionals, have done it many times before. We know it will happen, no matter the hurdles. You will achieve your goal
