The RICS Homebuyers Survey and Valuation is most frequently undertaken for private buyers seeking an unbiased view of the overall condition of the property they are hoping to buy.

Significant defects are highlighted to enable a buyer to make an informed decision over whether to purchase the property or not.

Both the Consumer Association Which! Magazine and Council of Mortgage Lenders recommend that purchasers commission their own independent survey and do not merely rely upon their Bank or Building Society's Mortgage Valuation, which is commissioned to enable them to make a lending decision, on quite different criteria to that of a purchaser.
