Simon Parkes, Lettings Manager, John German Burton upon Trent Branch and Iain Bennet Lettings Negotiator, competed in the spectacular Hoar Cross Downhill Soapbox race on Wednesday 30th December 2009 and finished a magnificent 12th with a fast time of 1 minute 14.19 seconds.
The 2009 downhill event saw 28 competitors paired up in an amazing array of fantastic soapboxes. For the sixth year running the competitors tackled the legendary ‘School Hill’ before finishing at the Meynell Ingram Arms. This year’s event is set to break all records and once again the Hoar Cross Downhill is delighted to be supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The Derby Telegraph, Burton Mail, Birmingham Post and Mail, Express and Star, Lichfield Mercury, Central News and The Daily Telegraph all covered the event.
The John German Soapbox will be designed and built by the Foremarke School, Greenpower Challenge team; who competed in the Greenpower Electric Car F24 Season Final Race at Goodwood in the Autumn. They successfully qualified three cars into the final, including the John German ‘Xtreme’ car.
