Simon Parkes, Lettings Manager of the John German Burton upon Trent Branch and Iain Bennet Lettings Negotiator, will be competing in the spectacular Hoar Cross Downhill Soapbox race on Wednesday 30th December 2009.

The 2009 downhill event will see 50 competitors paired up in an amazing array of fantastic soapboxes. For the sixth year running the competitors will tackle the legendary ‘School Hill’ before finishing at the Meynell Ingram Arms. This year’s event is set to break all records and once again the Hoar Cross Downhill is delighted to be supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The 2009 downhill will begin at 1.00pm on Wednesday 30th December. The event is expected to break all records with crowds of over 5500 expected.

The John German Soapbox will be designed and built by the Foremarke School, Greenpower Challenge team; who competed in the Greenpower Electric Car F24 Season Final Race at Goodwood in the Autumn. They successfully qualified three cars into the final, including the John German ‘Xtreme’ car.

  • 13.00 Start - first kart departs in le mans style start
  • 15.30 Prize giving
  • 16.00 Pit stop party - join the competitors for the renowned pit stop party
  • 17.00 Downhill auction
  • 18.00 Disco continues until late

 

Hoar Cross Downhill Spectator information

  • Parking signs will direct visitors to Hoar Cross Hall and various parking facilities around the village
  • Spectating will be alongside school hill, the start and finish lines
  • Outside bars at the start and the finish will be serving food and drink throughout the day
  • Viewing on large screens at the top and bottom of the hill
  • Charity donations on the day will be invited for When You Wish Upon a Star
  • Marshall's instructions must be adhered to at all times for your own safety
  • Spectators attend the event at their own risk
